“The moon reminds me to stay”

The moon reminds me to stay

*Metals II Midterm Fall 2024

I find peace in the night,
Where darkness settles, and the world falls asleep.
The air turns crisp, and the noise fades away–
At last, I can rest.

Off with the disguise,
No need to smile, no need for lies.

It’s there when I wake and there when I sleep.
To the world, I seem whole and fine—
Yet beneath the surface, I’m crumbling inside,
With no visible signs.

Silence fills the air,
the streets lie empty, sidewalks are clear,
No eyes to meet, no strangers to fear—
You’re no longer trapped beneath their stare.

Even broken things belong where they are,
Slipping through the silence, unseen and free—
It’s the stars, the moon, and me.

By day, I miss her; the sun is too bright,
Outshining her comfort, denying the night.
But I know she’s waiting beyond the sun’s glare;
I am not lost in despair.

She whispers gently, “You’re not on your own,
Rest in my light,”

Her glow insists I’ll find my way—
A quiet promise before the dawn:
The sky will return, and I will stay.

With her, I’ll stay. Yes, I’ll stay.
